Who We Are
NNSG is a 501(c)(3) organization. Members include miners, ranchers, conservationists, federal and state agency personnel, and business leaders. We are funded by grants, private and corporate donations, the US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. NNSG works to demonstrate the principles of balanced stewardship expressed by collaborative principles of an open and transparent membership where consensus agreements are the manner of decision making and problem solving.
All Elko residents are NNSG members.
Our Goals
To establish trust and mutual respect between diverse agency and community members involved in public land issues; To provide a community forum for scientific presentations related to healthy ecosystems, earth science topics, and problem solving through the collaborative process; and, To develop sustainable relationships and expectations that reduce conflicts, simplify and streamline planning, and provide multiple use opportunities within our region.

Accomplishments
Monthly meetings address diverse topics dealing with natural resources and relationship building. NNSG has hosted numerous symposiums that bring private citizens, public land users and agency personnel together to share information. This sharing encourages a common basis for discussion. Gerry's interests are rangeland management, watershed heath, teaching others, hiking to spots to dip a string in the water hopin’ that on the other end will be a fish.
Andi Porreca
Past Secretary
Andi currently serves as the Secretary for NNSG and has been involved with the group for the past 8 years. She is the Coordinator for the Humboldt Watershed CWMA and Urban Forester for the Nevada Division of Forestry. Andi also enjoys many outdoor activities with her family including hiking, bird watching and snowboarding.

Larry is associated with the group for 15+ years. He is chairman of the Friends of the Ruby Mountains. He is retired from Great Basin College and writes a weekly nature column for the Elko Daily Free Press.

Paul Meiman
Paul and his family moved to Elko in 2019. He is an Associate Professor of Rangeland Ecology and Management and the state Extension Specialist for Rangeland Livestock/Wildlife Interactions with the University of Nevada, Reno. Paul has worked extensively with land, livestock and natural resource managers throughout the west and continues to do this in Nevada in his current position. His interests are closely related to, and have been influenced by on-the-ground interactions with ranchers, land and natural resource managers.

Leslie Creel
President
Leslie moved from Colorado to Elko in 1996 to work as a geologist. Beginning in 2002, life became in eclectic mix of work, raising a family and community involvement. Her trail advocacy led to the development of the Elko Trail System Initiative for which NNSG is a good fit. She has grown to appreciate the many land stewardship niches this group supports.
